San Juan Hills Guidance Department will be visiting students at the following middle schools:

 

Ladera Ranch Middle School - Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Shorecliffs Middle School - Thursday, February 15, 2018

Marco Forster Middle School - Wednesday, February 21, 2018

 

 

All course selections must be made in the STUDENT Portal by March 2, 2018. 

 

There will be TWO informational meetings open to any 8th grade parents. San Juan Hills Guidance Department will be covering in detail the registration process, course selections, different electives offered, and will answer questions you might have:

  • January 16, 2018 at 6:00pm MFMS - Link to Presentation (English and Spanish)
  • February 1, 2018 at 6:00pm at Ladera Ranch Middle School MPR (English)

Campus Tours

We will be conducting campus tours on the following dates. The tour will begin in the library at 8:30 a.m. Please contact Carie Abrew at 949-234-5997 or clabrew@capousd.org to reserve a spot. She will send a reminder email to you the week of the tour with a map and directions on where to park. The tour will end around 10:00 a.m. Tours are for parents and students.

Math Placement Exam for Students Entering Grade 9 from a Private School or School outside of CUSD

MATH PLACEMENT EXAM – For students entering grades 9 ONLY!

Students who wish to enroll in accelerated math courses (geometry and Algebra II/Trig Accelerated) during grade 9 will be required by the Capistrano Unified School District to take a math placement exam; regardless of grades received in their math class during grade 8. 

  • If you took Algebra I during grade 8 and wish to promote to Geometry, you will be required to take the Algebra I math final exam. 
  • If you took Geometry in grade 8 and wish to promote to Honors Algebra II/Trig, you will be required to take the Geometry math final exam.

All exams will be administered by District math personnel at the Capistrano Unified School District Education Center.  The District Office is located at 33122 Valle Road, San Juan Capistrano, 92675; (949) 234-9200.   

 

To register for the math placement exam please visit at http://capousd.ca.schoolloop.com/math and locate the section titled “MATH PLACEMENT FOR STUDENTS TRANSFERRING INTO CAPISTRANO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT IN FALL 2018.” 

  • In this section the math course placement testing information, criteria dates, times and location are available for download, as well as a link to a Google form named, “MATH COURSE PLACEMENT TESTING REGISTRATION FORM.”  Parents will be required to register their child for math course placement testing by completing this form.

Criteria for taking a Zero Period Class

Criteria for taking a Zero Period Class or taking Health and/or CCP during the summer

 

Student Must Have an Impacted Schedule to include:

  1. AVID Program (final selection based on interview and AVID Coordinator approval)
  2. Music Program (instrumental or choral music)
  3. Advanced Drama (approval required from drama instructor Cambria Beilstein at CLBEILSTEIN@capousd.org)
  4. ASB – Must be selected for ASB by Activities Director
  5. Two Way-Immersion Program (TWI) - https://sjhhs.schoolloop.com/languageimmersion
  6. Honors World History (must be pre-approved to take Honors English I)
